Looking forward to 2017

We are excited for the year ahead and delighted to be shifting focus from survival to expansion by increasing our capacity to support local creatives. We start 2017 with the formal takeover of the Exchange Workspace, giving us more than 12,000 sq ft dedicated to nurturing creative and artistic talent in Croydon. We are borrowing 30k towards the costs of completing refurbishment work.

By the Summer we expect the Exchange to be fully operational, fully occupied and cash-flow positive. We intend to provide half a dozen private suites for tech and media companies together with two food concessions and coworking space.

Beyond the Exchange our attention turns to Theatre Utopia. Jamal and his team have proven the potential for fringe theatre in Croydon and strived to plug the void left by the closure of The Warehouse Theatre and recently, Fairfield Halls. In 2017 we want to work with Theatre Utopia and other stakeholders to overcome financial and technical challenges and position them as the leading indy fringe theatre in Croydon. We will work with Theatre Utopia and others to secure a long-term future that complements the high-end offering that will come to the newly refurbished Fairfield Halls.

As we grow, so will our team. A management committee including key stakeholders is being formed and will meet quarterly from April 2017.  During spring we will recruit a part-time Operations Director and by late Summer we intend to establish a Board of Directors to include two new members, one with a background in business finance and raising capital and another with experience in property development.

On top of all this we are hatching big plans with BRGR&BEER, can’t say much yet but you are gonna love where these guys are going in 2017. #BossMan #LEVELUP

With so much going on in the year ahead we are continuing to raise capital through our loan fund to take these plans forward. We have big borrowing targets for January and are extending our very generous 20% interest offer throughout January. In February the rate will reduce to 15%. More information can be found here: http://matthewsyard.creativeclusters.net/loan-fund. If you love what we do and want to make your money work for you, for us and for Croydon, then please consider lending.
