Croydon Death Cafe
September 19, 2021.2:30 pm-4:00 pm
At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Our objective is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes.
Gill Manly, who leads this cafe is a funeral celebrant who firmly believes in opening up the discussion about death and dying. Now more than ever since the pandemic erupted we have been faced with decisions about our own mortalit, and have had to deal with arranging an unexpected funeral for someone be it a friend or family member. Life is impermenent and through facing death we become more aware of how precious our life really is. Conversations are confidential and often lead to discussion on a whole host of other things.
